About this game

Yearning: A Gay Story (YAGS for short) is a coming-out-focused character-driven slice-of-life visual novel with dating sim elements (phew) where you play as a gay man starting his freshman year of college at a generic university somewhere in the midwestern United States.

You will interact with a cast of characters, each with their own personality and stories, as you navigate college life, develop friendships, play board games, and come out. With luck, you might even find a boyfriend.

Features:
- A world where you can befriend people and see events from different perspectives, depending on your decisions
- 4 dateable guys* with their own distinct stories, with good and bad endings for each guy (9 endings in all*)
- 230,000+ words and meaningful choices
- Collectibles system to track and reward your decisions
- Achievements, for completionists
- Unlockable in-game character profiles
- An original soundtrack featuring "Yearning", the YAGS theme

A wonderful visual novel dating sim where you choose who to hang out with, where to eat, and when to study that takes place over a whole semester in college. Multiple endings, some are amazing, some average, and some so-so depending on what you do and how you interact with the many characters. Most importantly, no ads or energy mechanic, nothing to get in the way of you playing through the story at your pace. This was a complete joy to play through, I can't praise this story enough.

I absolutely adore this game. It's 100% what a visual novel is supposed to be like. The only issue is I wish the options (skip, menu, etc) were further apart to stop accidental taps. This FREE-to-play game is better than most if not all pay-to-play games. I'm so tired of gems, crystals, diamonds or whatever to choose different options. Plus even if you bought diamonds on other games you STILL end up doing whatever they want you to do. Your 'choices' don't matter. YOUR CHOICES MATTER HERE!

The story can be immersive at times but is mostly just slow and dragging. I found myself constantly skipping until there was something to do. Overall though nothing really happens. I've played through a few times, making drastically different choices and always end up with the same outcome. This really causes it to lose replay value. The story itself is very short as well, it only takes you through one semester. Could've at least finished the first year.
