About this app

Mumla is a client for the voice chat system Mumble. Connect to one of the many public Mumble-servers run by the community, or host one yourself (see https://www.mumble.info for more info). Mumla is an updated and maintained version (a fork) of the app Plumble.

To give a little support towards the maintenance and development of Mumla, please find and purchase the donation version of Mumla.

Some of the features:

* Certificate generation, import and export
* Browse public servers
* Voice activated transmission (the default), or different Push-to-talk buttons
* Bluetooth headset support
* Self-registration on server
* Access tokens
* Opus, CELT, and Speex codec support
* Automatic reconnection
* Tor support through the Orbot app
* Text-to-speech for messages (turned on by default)
* Light and dark theme

Voice activated transmission currently works best when using a headset. The echo cancellation and noise reduction need better implementations. You may also try tweaking the Detection threshold in the settings.

Mumla is free and open source software. Find out more at: https://mumla-app.gitlab.io/

The app does work when connecting directly to the server but when connecting through a proxy that is using srv record routing it does not work. Edit: Found that if you leave the port field blank it will connect but if you fill in the port field with even the default port number it doesn't connect. Edit2: then everything looks to be working as intended and the app works great!

A SRV record (more like pointer than a proxy) always contains both address and port. As you found out, adding any port will ignore the SRV record, and try connect by A record, plus the port.

"No shared cipher" server error with valid ECDSA TLS certs. Must use Self Signed RSA certs instead. Anyway it is a great app.

Great! It just works, and provides almost everything Mumble has. But there is a bad bug that I hope will be addressed — there is a "Headset" option in the settings which I have turned off but it still turns my screen off based on my proximity sensor while I am connected. This is fine until you try to play a game while talking in the background as your finger constantly gets in front of the sensor because of landscape orientation or until the sensor mechanically breaks so you'd have to restart.

What's new

This release adds support for the per-app language setting in Android 13 and later. In settings System / Languages / App Languages you can pick the language that Mumla should use, from those available.

The languages available in Mumla are those which have been translated to 40% or more.
You can help translating Mumla at https://hosted.weblate.org/engage/mumla/

Mumla was recently adapted for running on Android 14 (SDK 34). Hopefully it is not less stable than before.
