Description

*** Featured by Apple in "New Apps We Love", Apple Watch App Store, and Apple Health&Fitness category. ***

Gymatic (a.k.a VimoFit) is the first and only app to automatically identify your exercises, count your repetitions, and log your workouts. What is more, it auto tracks many stats no human can track. Bring science to your workout!

Our mind-blowing technology has been featured on AOL, Mashable, TechCrunch, Huffington Post, and more…

- Gymatic not only auto log exercises and count reps, it also collect many advanced stats for each set, such as
* Heart rate (average and max) (only when using Apple Watch)
* Rest and work time (work time only starts when you move, rest time starts as soon as movement ends. No need to mess with timer when you need to rest after a set, it is all automatic.)
* Velocity
* Power
* Tempo
* Rep speed
* Form consistency
* Range consistency
* Speed consistency

- Connect with Apple Health app to read heart rate and contribute to activity rings.

- Get more accurate calories burned feedback then with typical fitness trackers because Gymatic knows EXACTLY which exercises you’re performing!

- It takes just 3 seconds to train any new exercise so there’s no limit to how many exercises Gymatic can track.

- Gymatic tracks your Crossfit, bodybuilding, weightlifting, strength training, HIIT workouts, TRX training, kettlebell training, calisthenics, machine exercises, and much much more!

- Stay motivated with remarkable progress tracking including 1 rep max estimates, calories burned and all advanced stats.

- Support both FreeForm mode, where you can perform any exercises, and Guided mode, where Watch/Phone guides you through a pre-programmed workout.

- Many workouts are included + unlimited workouts shared by the community.

- Track your indoor cardio and accurately count calories for running, cycling, rowing, elliptical, and stair stepper.

- Track your swim and count your strokes.

Tips:
- Wear your watch just a little higher on your wrist than usual. (above the bone)
- Tighten the watch on your wrist. (just snug, not a death grip)
- Want to track Leg Press? Strap phone to your leg. Or keep hands on your leg to move along.

Too fiddly

I had high hopes for this as I thought it would be able to capture my mostly body weight training which is hard/impossible to log on most Fitness Apps. However I found the Apps ability to track exercises complex and unruly and pretty inaccurate using my Series 4 Apple Watch.

I have deleted it for now and may come back and see how it’s doing in several months if there has been updates to address these points.

I love the concept. Shame about the execution at this point.

Buggy

I have the pro version to use on my watch and when it runs out I’m seriously considering not renewing. If it worked properly, this would be a great app but I just have multiple problems with it. Firstly it’s not always accurate at counting reps. I frequently have to adjust them, often it ends my set because of a longer pause to catch my breath and misses reps. I then have to manually alter them when I add the weight. Often, I select the weight on my watch and it doesn’t keep the weight I selected and I have to go back and do it again. Even if I do that when I look back at the phone app, I can see it doesn’t actually reflect what I entered, some are right and other sets are not. Also the watch doesn’t retain the weight from my last time doing that workout. I wrote feedback to the developer and they told me to uninstall both, reinstall and resync. I’ve done this multiple times and it hasn’t fixed the issue. I replied back telling the developer this and they’ve pretty much ignored me. I can’t repeatedly do this install / uninstall/ sync every time I work out. Relatively unimpressed with the poor customer service for a paid app.

Tricky to use and pointless for velocity based lifts

The USP of this app is that it tracks velocity of the lift and yet it doesn’t work on the iPhone (only on Apple Watch) and it doesn’t offer any way to track the velocity of EACH lift. In fact the only way to track each rep is after the workout has finished in the iPhone app which misses the point somewhat. It shows the average velocity of the set just completed in the watch app but again after the event - the point of VBT is to sense a drop in velocity on a rep by rep basis.

The watch app is tricky to use. It’s more about trial and error which gets infuriating after a while because the buttons and long presses to achieve whatever it is you want to achieve are not logical. Lots of ghost reps and it won’t start the next set if you set a fixed rest period while building the workout in the iPhone app. Next to useless in my opinion and there are better apps to trust reps and sets in the traditional style.
